It is essential for all school owners and their instructors who teach Haidong Gumdo to attend these seminars. We look forward to seeing all of the area Haidong Gumdo Masters training together. Please have the courtesy to respond if you will be attending or not. We also would appreciate it if you let us know in advance if you or your students will be testing. We need your testing student's name, rank and age. This will help us organize all of the testing forms and materials in advance. Also please make sure Head Master Kim has all of the test applications, ID card applications and pictures at least one month prior to both Masters and student testing. It is a good idea to mail these 6 weeks prior to the test. You can down load an application at www.Koreansword.info under the "forms" tab.
If you have students attending the student seminar on Saturday please let us know. We would also appreciate it if you let us know if you plan on attending dinner on Saturday evening.
We plan on having a private Masters test on Saturday morning. This will be followed by student black belt testing. The student seminar will follow. The rest of Saturday will be for training. Lunch on Saturday afternoon will be provided.
A Masters meeting will take place Sunday morning followed by training. More detailed information is listed below. Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns.
The Autumn Haidong Gumdo training seminar at the Philadelphia area will be held on December 3 and 4 at the Hope Lutheran Gym (2600 Haines Road, Levittown, PA., 19055).
The Sheraton Hotel is about 12 minutes from the seminar site and located in Langhorne, PA. We have negotiated a rate of $109/ night for our group. You must register with the hotel to get the reduced rate. Also mention that you are with the Haidong Gumdo group. This is on a first come, first serve basis. If you have any special requests, please let us know well in advance so we can make every effort to help.
Please bring your jingum, mokgum, bamboo paper cutting sword and sparring safety sword. A limited number of safety swords will be available for use and or sale at the seminar site.
A federation jingum must be used by any candidate cutting bamboo at their test.
There is a fee for the seminar of $100 for masters and instructors attending the seminar for one day or both. The cost of the student seminar is $40.
We will continue the student seminar policy this year. 50% of the Masters registration fee will be deducted for the Masters who have 6 or more of their students participate in the student seminar. 100% of the Masters registration fee will be deducted if 10 or more of their students participate in the student seminar.
As you may know, many of the Masters have dinner at Mirim Korean Restaurant following the training on Saturday night. We will be able to make reservations for you if you let us know when you sign in prior to 12 noon on Saturday at registration. You may also choose to pay $15 per person in advance which would cover the cost of your dinner. Most of the items on the menu will be covered.
Note that the Master's meeting will be held at my office (387 Stonybrook Drive, Levittown, PA 19055. 215-547-0508) at 10:30am. This is about one half mile away from the seminar site on Sunday morning. This will allow us to have the benefit of addition training on Sunday at the gym. Please refer to the attached schedule below.
We are making every effort to make this an enjoyable and worthwhile event. If you have any questions, please let us know.
